Confession: I did not watch THE Wedding<\/a>. Woe is me. Woe. Woe. However, a number of friends encouraged me to read the sermon.<\/p>\n

My view? – It’s a very good sermon for this very public and history laden event.<\/p>\n

Why? It affirms the Christian basics of marriage as\u00a0man and woman, love, forgiveness, work, nurtures mutual life,\u00a0and engages the couple\u00a0where I suspect them to be in terms of their walk of faith. I note that the bride was confirmed recently. The couple also wrote a prayer for their married life,<\/p>\n

God our Father, we thank you for our families; for the love that we share and for the joy of our marriage.
\nIn the busyness of each day keep our eyes fixed on what is real and important in life and help us to be generous with our time and love and energy.
\nStrengthened by our union help us to serve and comfort those who suffer.
\nWe ask this in the Spirit of Jesus Christ. Amen.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

All good stuff. I will seek to uphold them in prayer in my monthly prayer cycle.<\/p>\n
