The terrible and\u00a0tragic loss of life and injury amidst the destruction of the\u00a0beautiful and hospitable City of Christchurch and its\u00a0historic Cathedral is hard to assimilate. I feel so sad. \u00a0Just\u00a0last February Gayelene and I visited New Zealand<\/a>\u00a0and celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary in this beautiful city and spent time at Christchurch Cathedral.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Dean of the Cathedral has been interviewed and the Cathedral before and after the earthquake is pictured, The steeple on the skyline gone, after 130 years<\/a>. Please pray for the concerns expressed by the Dean and all that the Holy Spirit puts on your heart for the people of Christchurch.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The dean said the cathedral’s damage was ”devastating \u2026 but the most important thing at the moment is not the buildings, it’s the people.”<\/p>\n

”And we’ve got to reach out to each other here in Christchurch and Canterbury [province] and do what we can to deal with those who are wounded, those who have been killed, and their families.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

St David’s\u00a0Cathedral, Hobart<\/a>, will be open for private prayer as usual from 8.30am to 5pm and with services tomorrow at 8.30am and 10.30am which will\u00a0include prayer for the people of Christchurch and Canterbury.<\/p>\n

An ecumenical Prayer 4 Christchurch<\/em> will be held\u00a0at Noon this Sunday at St. David’s Cathedral\u00a0in concert with St. Mary\u2019s Cathedral.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
