A recent article, Half do not agree to die,<\/em>\u00a0from The Age<\/strong> picks up the hot topic of Euthanasia.<\/div>\n

Euthanasia is legal in Belgium and has been since 2002. Sadly 2% of deaths in Belgium are due to Euthanasia.\u00a0One of the big problems with this, apart from the obvious, is that a study has suggested that almost half of the deaths…<\/em> have<\/em> involved patients who did not explicitly request that their lives be ended by a doctor.<\/em><\/div>\n

\u00a0Of the nurses interviewed (who had been involved in the euthanasia of patients), a fifth said that it was based on the ”assumption” they <\/em>(the patient)\u00a0would want to die<\/em>, and nearly half had taken part in terminations without request or consent<\/em>.\u00a0The nurses\u00a0involved in the temination of lives have operated beyond the legal margins of their professions<\/em>, because the Law states<\/em> that the patient must consent<\/span> and that doctors must carry out the procedure<\/span>.<\/em>\u00a0<\/p>\n
