The theme is <strong>\u2018People@prayer\u2019.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Pilgrimage will commence on Pentecost Sunday 23 May and continue through the months of June and July. See the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.anglicantas.org.au\/index.php?item=file&amp;target=Pentecost_2010\">Pentecost Sunday 2010 brochure here<\/a>. It will be distributed in all parishes. Its title will be \u2018People@ prayer\u2019; setting out this essential characteristic of God\u2019s people. The Pilgrimage will conclude at the Cathedral on 25 July, St James\u2019 Day, the 10<sup>th<\/sup> Anniversary of my ordination and installation as Bishop of Tasmania.<\/p>\n<p>The Pilgrimage itself will be my 10<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary celebration \u2013 gathering God\u2019s people to be at prayer throughout Tasmania: \u2018People@prayer\u2019. What a wonderful way to celebrate God\u2019s calling upon my life to be your bishop.<\/p>\n<p>The calendar of visits is organized. My excitement is building as I think of the places and people around Tasmania with whom I will be praying. I am profoundly grateful for this\u00a0privilege.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Pilgrimage&#8217;s Purposes and Prayer<\/strong> follow and I ask for your prayers for the Pilgrimage.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<strong>A. PURPOSES<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For all parishioners, clergy and the Bishop to pray corporately for the Holy Spirit to work among us<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>To model and encourage corporate prayer by Tasmanian Anglicans<\/li>\n<li>To teach Tasmanian Anglicans about prayer<\/li>\n<li>To unify Tasmanian Anglicans through prayer<\/li>\n<li>To see God respond to our prayers and for Tasmanians to become disciples of Jesus Christ<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0<strong>These purposes will \u2013 <\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Deepen our relationship with God both as individuals and as the people of God, the Church, and deepen within us the expectation that God will work in the world.<\/li>\n<li>Encourage people to pray\u00a0by the Bishop being at prayer with the Anglican Parishes, Schools &amp; Agencies. In my vision,\u00a0\u2018a healthy church \u2026 transforming life\u2019, I state that my heart\u2019s desire is for every Anglican to be a prayerful activist, enlivened by biblical faith and the power of the Holy Spirit; and for us all to take initiatives in mission that God may transform the life of our Christian communities and all Tasmanians.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Teach about prayer by teaching on the theme \u2018People@prayer\u2019.<\/li>\n<li>Unify God&#8217;s people through praying together and praying for the Anglican family of Tasmania and all Tasmanians.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0<strong>B. THE PILGRIMAGE PRAYER\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<address><strong><em>Heavenly Father, your word teaches us that we do not have because we do not ask<\/em><\/strong><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/address>\n<address><strong><em>By your Spirit make us as keen to pray as you are to listen<\/em><\/strong><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/address>\n<address><strong><em>as determined to listen as you have always been to speak<\/em><\/strong><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/address>\n<address><strong><em>that we may be equipped for mission and united as your people,<\/em><\/strong><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/address>\n<address><strong><em>healthy churches transforming our lives and those of all Tasmanians<\/em><\/strong><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/address>\n<address><strong><em>through Jesus Christ our Lord.
