Afternoon tea and a Service of Thanksgiving led by Revd Jill McCoy made for some fascinating story telling.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Jill preached on the\u00a0two questions\u00a0asked by King Solomon in his\u00a0prayer of dedication of the Temple: 1. Will God dwell on earth?\u00a0 and\u00a0 2. How can a house\/temple\u00a0built by human hands\u00a0contain God?\u00a0\u00a0 1 Kings 8:27\u00a0\u00a0 The coming to earth of Jesus Christ is the affirmative answer to the first question. The answer to the second question is &#8216;No&#8217; no building can contain God and yet God can be experienced in this building (St George&#8217;s Sorell). No building can limit God&#8217;s presence within it yet God is evidently present in places and spaces hallowed over the years by prayer, the reading of the Bible and the celebration of the sacraments.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Parish writes,\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>This year marks an important milestone as our church celebrates 125 years of worship in the current building.\u00a0<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-3749\" title=\"DSCF147a\" src=\"http:\/\/imaginarydiocese.org\/bishopjohn\/files\/2010\/04\/DSCF147a2-645x560.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"437\" height=\"320\" \/>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"DSCF5148a\" src=\"http:\/\/imaginarydiocese.org\/bishopjohn\/files\/2010\/04\/DSCF5148a-645x410.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"399\" height=\"378\" \/>\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"DSCF5149a\" src=\"http:\/\/imaginarydiocese.org\/bishopjohn\/files\/2010\/04\/DSCF5149a-645x483.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"430\" height=\"370\" \/>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This achievement was celebrated with afternoon tea and\u00a0a brief thanksgiving service at St George&#8217;s Sorell on Saturday 24 April.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last Saturday I had the privilege of celebrating with the Parish of Sorell, Richmond and Tasman\u00a0for the 125th Anniversary of\u00a0 the &#8216;new&#8217; building of St George&#8217;s Sorell.
