{"id":3713,"date":"2010-05-20T01:52:51","date_gmt":"2010-05-19T14:52:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/imaginarydiocese.org\/bishopjohn\/?p=3713"},"modified":"2010-05-20T01:52:51","modified_gmt":"2010-05-19T14:52:51","slug":"reading-the-quran","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/imaginarydiocese.org\/bishopjohn\/2010\/05\/20\/reading-the-quran\/","title":{"rendered":"Reading the Qur&#8217;an"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Based at the University of Tasmania, Samuel Green through the Australian Fellowship of Evangelical students (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.afes.org.au\/\">AFES<\/a>) has a national ministry\u00a0engaging in conversation and debate with Muslim people.\u00a0In his recent newsletter Samuel\u00a0mentions his\u00a0blog devoted to <a href=\"http:\/\/reading-the-quran.blogspot.com\/\">reading the Qur&#8217;an<\/a>.\u00a0It is quite fascinating to read the Qur&#8217;an through Samuel&#8217;s\u00a0Christian eyes. Highly commended. Thank you, Samuel.<\/p>\n<p>In his AFES newsletter he wrote,<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Last year I finished reading the 9 volumes of the Hadith of Bakhari. This took several years but was an important task as Bukhari is second to the Qur&#8217;an. I took extensive notes and now have a much greater knowledge of Islam and the quotes I need. Therefore this year I am reading the Qur&#8217;an again and understanding it much better. I plan to know the Qur&#8217;an better than the people I debate.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Samuel also communicated that,<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>He meets weekly with 7 students; a Muslim, a convert from Islam to Christianity, and Christians from Australian or Egypt to <strong>disciple <\/strong>them,<\/li>\n<li><strong>Engaging with Islam\u00a0course<\/strong>, in its second edition, should be available in November. More information is available <a href=\"http:\/\/www.engaging-with-islam.info\/\">here<\/a>,<\/li>\n<li>He has many debates this year on excellent subjects, in particular in Tasmania on July 28 and 30,<\/li>\n<li>He will be visiting Papua New Guinea, as the church leaders have requested he visit and teach them about Islam. Malaysia are spending lots of money to send people into the South Pacific to Islamize it,<\/li>\n<li>He is writing several <strong>Evangelistic Booklets<\/strong> and trying to organise <strong>Arabic and Indonesian Bibles <\/strong>for Christians to give their Muslim friends, and lastly<\/li>\n<li>He will be running and speaking at the <strong>mid-year conference <\/strong>(The topic is the Kingdom of God) on July 5-9.
