It does seem that they are rather reactionary: they are in Melbourne against God and against religious people!<\/p>\n<p>There seems to be an atheist love for\u00a0bus signs: I\u00a0have seen the bus in Hobart &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/imaginarydiocese.org\/bishopjohn\/2010\/01\/09\/atheism-bus-sighted-hobart\/\">Atheism bus sighted\u00a0in Hobart<\/a> &#8211; and now by chance (could it be otherwise?!) I am\u00a0in Melbourne when the atheists decide to have a jamboree; and\u00a0the bus sign is in Melbourne\u00a0 &#8211; \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.theage.com.au\/national\/bus-advertising-just-the-ticket-for-atheists-20100301-pdlg.html\">Bus advertising just the ticket for atheists<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theage.com.au\/opinion\/blogs\/godless-gross\/atheism--a-fizzer-or-fantastic\/20100311-pzwu.html\">Atheism &#8211;\u00a0a fizzer or fantastic?<\/a>\u00a0by the atheist Dick Gross in his <em>Godless Gross<\/em>\u00a0blog has an interesting <em>Ten Atheistic Commandments<\/em>. He also remarks on the unscholarly way in which\u00a0atheists treat religion. While frequently\u00a0Christians frustrated by the superficiality of atheists&#8217; comments on religion\u00a0make this observation, until now\u00a0I have not heard it from an atheist. So, congratulations to Dick. It is gratifying to read an atheist say,<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Our advocates are often unpopular outside the tent.\u00a0 And it is true, we deploy the \u201cStraw Man Syndrome\u201d.\u00a0 We simplify and homogenise faith into the worst examples and that is unfair.\u00a0 We never acknowledge the leadership of faith in culture, in philanthropy and art.\u00a0 We too often characterise all belief as suicide bombers, homophobes and female circumcisers. We are an alienating bunch who are a bit up ourselves<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Interesting article on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theage.com.au\/national\/q-what-do-these-mps-have-in-common-a-they-are-out-and-proud-atheists-20100313-q59i.html\">state and federal politicians who are atheists<\/a> includes, \u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>As for (Greens) federal leader Bob Brown, he is a &#8221;lapsed Presbyterian&#8221;. But adding weight to the suggestion that the Greens have turned the crusade for the environment into a faith, Mr Brown&#8217; s office said his religion was &#8221;believing the fate of the Earth is in our hands&#8221;. Amen.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The Melbourne Anglican has put together an excellent special edition in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.melbourne.anglican.com.au\/main.php?pg=blogs&amp;story_id=23299\">The Case for God<\/a>.
