I have the privilege of leading this solemn segment of the service\u00a0this year.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>The Act of Dedication<\/h3>\n<p>Led by The Right Revd John Harrower, Anglican Bishop of Tasmania<\/p>\n<address>\u00a0As members of the Legal Profession I now invite you to re-dedicate yourselves to the ideals and principles of your profession, to preserve and maintain the integrity of your role and to uphold justice in our society.<\/address>\n<address>\u00a0<\/address>\n<address>Members of the Legal Profession:<\/address>\n<address>\u00a0<\/address>\n<address>\u00a0<strong>God of justice and mercy,<\/strong><\/address>\n<address><strong>in our various positions and roles <\/strong><\/address>\n<address><strong>in the legal profession and wider community, <\/strong><\/address>\n<address><strong>we dedicate ourselves anew <\/strong><\/address>\n<address><strong>to live and act with truth, justice, integrity <\/strong><\/address>\n<address><strong>and honour for the common good of all.<\/strong><\/address>\n<address><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/address>\n<address><strong>As we strive faithfully <\/strong><\/address>\n<address><strong>to serve the administration of the laws and usages of this State, <\/strong><\/address>\n<address><strong>may we make every effort to uphold justice <\/strong><\/address>\n<address><strong>and ensure that justice is available to all, <\/strong><\/address>\n<address><strong>regardless of their wealth, position or circumstance.\u00a0 Amen.<\/strong><\/address>\n<address>\u00a0<\/address>\n<address>Bishop prays:<\/address>\n<address>\u00a0<\/address>\n<address>Almighty and eternal God<\/address>\n<address>you know the longings of people\u2019s hearts<\/address>\n<address>and you protect their rights.<\/address>\n<address>In your goodness,<\/address>\n<address>watch over those who administer<\/address>\n<address>the law and all in authority,<\/address>\n<address>so that people everywhere may enjoy<\/address>\n<address>freedom, security, and peace.<\/address>\n<address>\u00a0<\/address>\n<address>We ask this through Christ our Lord<\/address>\n<address>who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,<\/address>\n<address>one God, for ever and ever.<\/address>\n<address>\u00a0<\/address>\n<address><strong>Amen.<\/strong><\/address>\n<\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>At the Opening of the Legal Year Service at St David&#8217;s Cathedral today there is a most solemn re-dedication by Members of the Legal Profession.
