{"id":2295,"date":"2009-12-26T22:27:45","date_gmt":"2009-12-26T11:27:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/imaginarydiocese.org\/bishopjohn\/?p=2295"},"modified":"2009-12-26T22:27:45","modified_gmt":"2009-12-26T11:27:45","slug":"cathedral-christmas-celebrations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/imaginarydiocese.org\/bishopjohn\/2009\/12\/26\/cathedral-christmas-celebrations\/","title":{"rendered":"Cathedral Christmas celebrations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Cathedral &#8216;Living Stable&#8217; with the people and animals (including our donkeys\u00a0of course)\u00a0at the birth of Jesus Christ in Bethlehem plus a &#8216;heavenly choir&#8217;\u00a0was blessed with good weather and passersby stopping and engaging in conversation and photo opportunities with the protagonists. The five afternoons of ministry from the &#8216;Living Stable&#8217; led up to the 5 pm Family Service on Christmas Eve.<\/p>\n<p>At 7 pm\u00a0I attended the &#8216;Nine Lessons and Carols&#8217; which I especially value as the readings from the Bible and the traditional carols so superbly sung centre me in worship in preparation for\u00a0the Midnight Service where I preach. A new element of the Nine Lessons and Carols was a reading setting forth our fallen state from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.footstoolpublications.com\/Homilies\/Bk2_Nativity12.pdf\">&#8216;The Sermon of the Nativity&#8217; in the Second Book of Homilies<\/a>. The 10 am Christmas Service was\u00a0a delight. The Dean&#8217;s\u00a0 facility with a yo-yo and the associated teaching on incarnation, walking with Jesus, resurrection and ascension a highlight.
