I have his\u00a0permission to share them with you. Firstly, his introductory comment on Christian ministry:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Christian Ministry<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Paul to Timothy (in times of hardship for both)\u00a0\u00a0 1 Timothy 4:12-13<\/p>\n<p>Set the believers an example (&#8216;typos&#8217;-Greek) in<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>speech<\/li>\n<li>conduct<\/li>\n<li>love<\/li>\n<li>faith<\/li>\n<li>purity<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Devote yourself to<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the reading<\/li>\n<li>the encouragement<\/li>\n<li>the teaching<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>so that all may see your progress<\/p>\n<h3>Ten point checklist for sermon preparation and delivery (we all need good methods)<\/h3>\n<p><em><strong>Tuesday &#8211; Wednesday (3 hours) <\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Reset the text line by line (by hand or computer &#8211; www.biblegateway.com)<br \/>\nSee if there is a natural structure (see e.g., on 1 Peter 3:7)<\/li>\n<li>Context: work out how the text follows from what was written before<br \/>\nIn letters look out for connectors (&#8216;For&#8217;, &#8216;Therefore&#8217;, etc.)<br \/>\nAsk: how does my passage relate to what comes next?<\/li>\n<li>Identify items in the passage you don&#8217;t understand. Check a commentary<\/li>\n<li>How does this passage relate to the known situation of the original readers?<\/li>\n<li>Ask yourself: what is the <strong>BIG<\/strong> idea in the passage?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em><strong>Wednesday &#8211; Thursday (3 hours)<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<ol start=\"6\">\n<li>How does the teaching of the passage fit in overall with Christian theology?<\/li>\n<li>What will my sermon outline be (based on its BIG idea)?<\/li>\n<li>Lord, give me (a) some good <em>illustrations<\/em>, and (b) a helpful <em>application<\/em>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em><strong>Friday\u00a0(2 hours) <\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<ol start=\"9\">\n<li>Type up the sermon text<\/li>\n<li>Reduce it to a 1 page outline, practice that and preach from that (for eye contact)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em><strong>Sunday <\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Preach the BIG idea from your summary.
