{"id":15687,"date":"2015-08-28T18:12:24","date_gmt":"2015-08-28T07:12:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/imaginarydiocese.org\/bishopjohn\/?p=15687"},"modified":"2015-08-28T18:12:24","modified_gmt":"2015-08-28T07:12:24","slug":"a-prayer-of-thanks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/imaginarydiocese.org\/bishopjohn\/2015\/08\/28\/a-prayer-of-thanks\/","title":{"rendered":"A Prayer of Thanks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I was interviewed by the Dean of <a href=\"http:\/\/saintdavids.org.au\/\">the Cathedral<\/a>, The Very Reverend Richard Humphrey,\u00a0on the day after\u00a0I formally announced my resignation as Bishop of Tasmania (26th July 2015).\u00a0 At the conclusion of the\u00a0interview\u00a0which occurred during the 10am\u00a0Sunday Worship Service,\u00a0The Dean\u00a0prayed the following prayer which he adapted\u00a0from the Service for the\u00a0Ordination of Bishops, APBA:<\/p>\n<p><em>A Prayer giving thanks\u00a0to God for Bishop John&#8217;s 15 years of ministry as Bishop of Tasmania<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Almighty God, by your Son Jesus Christ<br \/>\nyou gave many excellent gifts to your apostles,<br \/>\nand commanded them to feed your flock.<br \/>\nWe give thanks for your servant John, who was called to be our bishop.<br \/>\nWe thank you that filled with your truth and clothed in holiness,<br \/>\nhe has been a pastor of your Church<br \/>\ndiligently preaching your word,<br \/>\nand rightly teaching your people<br \/>\nto the glory of your name, and the benefit of your Church.<br \/>\nWe give thanks in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord,<br \/>\nwho lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,<br \/>\none God, now and for ever.
