{"id":15563,"date":"2015-06-16T16:19:10","date_gmt":"2015-06-16T05:19:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/imaginarydiocese.org\/bishopjohn\/?p=15563"},"modified":"2015-06-16T16:19:10","modified_gmt":"2015-06-16T05:19:10","slug":"synod-media-release-11-june-2015","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/imaginarydiocese.org\/bishopjohn\/2015\/06\/16\/synod-media-release-11-june-2015\/","title":{"rendered":"Synod: Media release 11 June 2015"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The following Media Release was issued on the 11th June:<\/strong> Church to Speak Out on Domestic Violence<\/p>\n<p>The annual Tasmanian Anglican Synod will discuss a number of current political and social issues when it meets over the next 2 days.<\/p>\n<p>The Synod will be asked to support a motion from The Dean of St David\u2019s Cathedral, The Very Rev\u2019d Richard Humphrey, raising awareness on domestic\/family violence and making resources available for the church in its pastoral role.<\/p>\n<p>The Anglican Bishop of Tasmania, The Right Reverend John Harrower, will speak in his address to Synod of the new ideas and new ways of being church that are already being put into place, and showing healthy growth.<\/p>\n<p>Bishop Chris Jones, CEO of Anglicare Tasmania, will be putting forward a motion expressing concern at the findings of Anglicare\u2019s latest Rental Affordability Snapshot, and raising this issue with the State Government Minister for Human Services.<\/p>\n<p>The Synod includes around 180 representatives from each Anglican parish and agency in Tasmania and makes decisions on behalf of the Church.
