To illustrate this,\u00a0I\u00a0took my Pastoral Staff. Here are some of my speaking notes for\u00a0the Chapel\u00a0Service at The Hutchins School:<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Jesus\u00a0\u00a0is the Good Shepherd<br \/>\n<\/u>Jesus said, <\/strong>\u201cI am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. <span id=\"en-NIV-26494\" class=\"text John-10-12\"><span class=\"woj\">The hired hand is not the shepherd and does not own the sheep. So when he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away. Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it.<\/span><\/span> <span id=\"en-NIV-26495\" class=\"text John-10-13\"><span class=\"woj\">The man runs away because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep. <\/span><\/span><span id=\"en-NIV-26496\" class=\"text John-10-14\"><span class=\"woj\">I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me. &#8220;John 10: 11-14 (NIV)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/imaginarydiocese.org\/bishopjohn\/files\/2012\/12\/Bishops-crook.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-12953\" src=\"http:\/\/imaginarydiocese.org\/bishopjohn\/files\/2012\/12\/Bishops-crook-200x300.jpg\" alt=\"Bishops crook\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/imaginarydiocese.org\/bishopjohn\/files\/2012\/12\/Bishops-crook-200x300.jpg 200w, http:\/\/imaginarydiocese.org\/bishopjohn\/files\/2012\/12\/Bishops-crook-430x645.jpg 430w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>What does a shepherd do?<\/strong><br \/>\nLooks after sheep<br \/>\nHow?<br \/>\nBy being watchful, alert<br \/>\nCaves\/responsible for the sheep<\/p>\n<p><strong>(a) Shepherd\u2019s staff<\/strong><br \/>\nTo help rescue sheep when tangled in a bush<br \/>\nKeeps the sheep&#8217;s\u00a0head above water in a drenching dip<br \/>\nTo fight off wild dogs<\/p>\n<p><strong>(b) Shepherd\u2019s lantern<\/strong><br \/>\nSo the shepherd can see at night<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>(c) Shepherd leads the sheep to good pasture and water<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In many ways and by many means, a shepherd protects and nurtures his sheep<\/p>\n<p><strong>In a similar way, Jesus is like a shepherd to us because He:<\/strong><br \/>\nWatches over us<br \/>\nLeads us to a way of life that is healthy, purposeful, caring<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jesus is the Good Shepherd<\/strong><br \/>\nWho wants the very best for your life<br \/>\nWho wants you to live with joy and<br \/>\nWho gives meaning to your life<\/p>\n<p>Jesus is always there for you!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I recently\u00a0spoke about the Jesus Christ, the Good Shepherd.
