{"id":15143,"date":"2014-08-04T11:16:36","date_gmt":"2014-08-04T00:16:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/imaginarydiocese.org\/bishopjohn\/?p=15143"},"modified":"2014-08-04T11:16:36","modified_gmt":"2014-08-04T00:16:36","slug":"q-a-with-the-bishop-launceston-church-grammar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/imaginarydiocese.org\/bishopjohn\/2014\/08\/04\/q-a-with-the-bishop-launceston-church-grammar\/","title":{"rendered":"Q &amp; A with the Bishop @ Launceston Church Grammar"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I\u00a0visited Launceston Church Grammar School\u00a0in July\u00a0for Bishop&#8217;s Day.\u00a0 It was a joy!\u00a0 We celebrated an excellent &#8220;Christmas in Winter&#8217; in the Chapel as well as a very moving Baptism and Confirmation service.\u00a0I relearnt some TCE chemistry at the Secondary Campus: thermodynamic reactions &#8211; exothermic and endothermic and I even calculated the lab prac to get the graph going in the correct direction! Life&#8217;s small victories!<\/p>\n<p>The Junior School questions from Grade 6\u00a0&#8216;Q &amp; A with the Bishop&#8217; or colloquially &#8216;Bishop in the Lions&#8217; Den!&#8217; led to profound conversation with respect and gentleness. The students&#8217; questions\u00a0follow &#8211; they may be helpful to those involved in Youth activities and are sure to\u00a0stimulate some interesting conversations:<\/p>\n<p><strong>On being a Bishop&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>How did you become a Bishop? Why did you want to be a bishop? How old were you when you became a Bishop?<\/li>\n<li>What&#8217;s the difference between a priest and a Bishop?<\/li>\n<li>What does your job involve? Do you come under much conflict in your job?<\/li>\n<li>What denomination do you come from? What&#8217;s the difference between a Christian and a Catholic?<\/li>\n<li>What does Anglican mean? What are the &#8220;rules&#8221; of Anglicanism?<\/li>\n<li>Why are there denominations?<\/li>\n<li>What did you do before you became a Bishop?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Personal Questions&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>How long have you believed in God?<\/li>\n<li>Have you always believed in God?<\/li>\n<li>Why do you believe in God?<\/li>\n<li>How old were you when you accepted Jesus?<\/li>\n<li>Did you believe in God since you were a child.., is your family a Christian? When did you become a Christian?<\/li>\n<li>Do you have a wife?<\/li>\n<li>Has God changed your life and why? Has believing in God changed your life?<\/li>\n<li>What is your favourite passage in the Bible?<\/li>\n<li>Would you change your life in anyway if God gave you the power to?<\/li>\n<li>Do you have a motor bike?<\/li>\n<li>Why do you have donkeys?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Theological questions&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>How did God come to be&#8230; was he born?<\/li>\n<li>How do you know Jesus is real? How do we know that God is real?<\/li>\n<li>What do you think God looks like? Does he have a moustache? Is God fat? How tall is God?<\/li>\n<li>How do we know the Bible is true?<\/li>\n<li>Is heaven and Hell real?<\/li>\n<li>Why are we suffering from Adam and Eve&#8217;s choices?<\/li>\n<li>How do you REALLY think the world was created?<\/li>\n<li>Do you believe in the OLD earth theory or the NEW earth theory?<\/li>\n<li>Why does God let bad things happen to good people?<\/li>\n<li>Why do you think we have wars.., and how do you think we can solve them?<\/li>\n<li>Why do we die? What happens when you die?<\/li>\n<li>Who is the oldest person in the Bible.., how old were they?<\/li>\n<li>Name 5 reasons people should believe in God?<\/li>\n<li>How many types of sin is there&#8230; are they different? Has God ever talked to you?<\/li>\n<li>What do you think would happen if Jesus came back to earth?<\/li>\n<li>How much does God love a prisoner?<\/li>\n<li>How do you become an angel?<\/li>\n<li>Is there anything that proves the Bible is real apart from faith?<\/li>\n<li>How many religions are there in the world?<\/li>\n<li>A very specific one&#8230; bring your Bible!!
