{"id":14855,"date":"2014-05-08T16:21:02","date_gmt":"2014-05-08T05:21:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/imaginarydiocese.org\/bishopjohn\/?p=14855"},"modified":"2014-05-08T17:19:24","modified_gmt":"2014-05-08T06:19:24","slug":"prayer-for-devonport","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/imaginarydiocese.org\/bishopjohn\/2014\/05\/08\/prayer-for-devonport\/","title":{"rendered":"Prayer for Devonport"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">Greetings in the name of the Resurrected Lord Jesus Christ!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">I write asking for you to join with me in prayer for the Parish of the City of Devonport over the week 4<\/span><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: medium\">th<\/span><\/sup><span style=\"color: #000000\"> to the 10<\/span><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: medium\">th<\/span><\/sup><span style=\"color: #000000\"> May.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">The Parish of Devonport is about to commence a new season of ministry under the leadership of the Venerable Canon John Tongue and I want to bring to the Parish and City of Devonport the full force of the prayers of the Missionary Diocese of Tasmania.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">In order to achieve this, I have asked all Parishes in the Diocese to include prayers for the Parish of the City of Devonport in their worship services on Sunday 4<\/span><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: medium\">th<\/span><\/sup><span style=\"color: #000000\"> May.<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\">\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\">I have also asked that throughout that week prayer groups and mid week worship services include prayers for Devonport.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">To support this call for prayer, please see below <\/span><i><span style=\"color: #000000\">Praise, thanks and Prayer Points for the Parish of Devonport<\/span><\/i><span style=\"color: #000000\"> for the week Sunday 4<\/span><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: medium\">th<\/span><\/sup><span style=\"color: #000000\"> May to Saturday 10<\/span><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: medium\">th<\/span><\/sup><span style=\"color: #000000\"> May.<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">We are a Diocese in solidarity in prayer before the Resurrected Lord of Life, Jesus Christ. Alleluia!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">Please join in praying for Devonport.<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\">\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\">Thank you.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Shalom, <i><strong>+ John\u00a0<\/strong><\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Praise, Thanks and Prayer points for Parish of the City of Devonport<br \/>\nS<\/strong><strong>unday 4<sup>th<\/sup> May \u2013 Saturday 10<sup>th<\/sup> May, 2014<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Praise<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Lord of all grace and mercy for His salvation won for us in Jesus Christ, and for all the blessings that flow to us as a result,<\/li>\n<li>For our wonderful celebrations of Easter just past,<\/li>\n<li>For God\u2019s continuing faithfulness to lead his people into the future,<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Thanks<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><\/strong>For the faithful followers of Jesus in Devonport, who have continued as salt and light for the Gospel throughout many years, and many challenges,<\/li>\n<li>For valuable lessons learned, and for growth in godliness through all the difficult times, and good times, for Devonport Parish,<\/li>\n<li>For faithful partnerships in the gospel between people of the Parish, and a range of locum and full-time ministers over recent years,<\/li>\n<li>For a willingness among the People of God in Devonport to continue to grow in Christ, and to advance his Kingdom,<\/li>\n<li>For the generous partnership of the Parishes of Ulverstone and Penguin with the Parish of Devonport,<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>\u00a0Prayer<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>For the healing of a whole range of past hurts,<\/li>\n<li>For unity in the Gospel,<\/li>\n<li>For the Holy Spirit\u2019s enabling people to grow in love for, and trust of, one another across the Parish of Devonport,<\/li>\n<li>For the Commissioning of the new Rector, (Ven Canon John Tongue) on the 6<sup>th<\/sup> May and his wife Shirley as they settle in to the Parish,<\/li>\n<li>For the Parishes of Ulverstone and Penguin, as they explore the future God has in store for them,<\/li>\n<li>For the grace and mercy of God to be evident in all our dealings with one another, even when we disagree,<\/li>\n<li>For the Holy Spirit of life and love to bind all spirits of division, animosity, and distrust,<\/li>\n<li>For all powers and authorities in the heavenly realms opposed to the flourishing of the Kingdom of Jesus in Devonport to be prevented, thwarted and frustrated in their efforts,<\/li>\n<li>For growth in knowledge and experience of the length and breadth and height and depth of the love of Christ for his church,<\/li>\n<li>For the peace of God that passes all understanding.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">A Prayer for the Church<br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong>Almighty God,<br \/>\nby whose spirit the whole body of your Church<br \/>\nis called in to a royal priesthood<br \/>\nhear our prayer for all members of your Church in the City of Devonport<br \/>\nthat in their vocation and ministry<br \/>\nthey may truly serve you,<br \/>\ndevoutly love you<br \/>\nand faithfully follow in the way of your son,<br \/>\nJesus Christ our Lord.
