lang=\"en-US\"><sup><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span><i>3b <\/i><\/span><\/span><\/sup><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span><i>Now Nineveh was a very large city; it took three days to go through it. <\/i><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"en-US\"><sup><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span><i>4<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/sup><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span><i> Jonah began by going a day\u2019s journey into the city, proclaiming, \u201cForty more days and Nineveh will be overthrown.\u201d<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"en-US\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span><i><b>Philippians 2:5-11<\/b><\/i><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<table width=\"650\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"7\">\n<colgroup>\n<col width=\"307\" \/>\n<col width=\"315\" \/> <\/colgroup>\n<tbody>\n<tr valign=\"TOP\">\n<td width=\"307\">\n<p lang=\"en-US\"><sup><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span><i>5\u00a0<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/sup><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span><i>In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"en-US\"><sup><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span><i>6\u00a0<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/sup><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span><i>Who, being in very nature God,<\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span><i><br \/>\n<\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span><i>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span><i>did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;<\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span><i><br \/>\n<\/i><\/span><\/span><sup><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span><i>7\u00a0<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/sup><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span><i>rather, he made himself nothing<\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span><i><br \/>\n<\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span><i>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span><i>by taking the very nature of a servant,<\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span><i><br \/>\n<\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span><i>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span><i>being made in human likeness.<\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span><i><br \/>\n<\/i><\/span><\/span><sup><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span><i>8\u00a0<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/sup><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span><i>And being found in appearance as a man,<\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span><i><br \/>\n<\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span><i>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span><i>he humbled himself<\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span><i><br \/>\n<\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span><i>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span><i>by becoming obedient to death\u2014<\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span><i><br \/>\n<\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span><i>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span><i>even death on a cross!<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<td width=\"315\">\n<p lang=\"en-US\"><sup><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span><i>9\u00a0<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/sup><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span><i>Therefore God exalted him to the highest place<\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span><i><br \/>\n<\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span><i>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span><i>and gave him the name that is above every name,<\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span><i><br \/>\n<\/i><\/span><\/span><sup><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span><i>10\u00a0<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/sup><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span><i>that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,<\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span><i><br \/>\n<\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span><i>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span><i>in heaven and on earth and under the earth,<\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span><i><br \/>\n<\/i><\/span><\/span><sup><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span><i>11\u00a0<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/sup><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span><i>and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,<\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span><i><br \/>\n<\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span><i>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span><i>to the glory of God the Father.<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"en-US\">\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p lang=\"en-US\" align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\">Jonah finally does the mission God called him to do. God also calls us to deliver his message of reconciliation and peace by word and deed. We may not always see the effect of our message, but our responsibility is to faithfully proclaim God\u2019s message.<\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"en-US\" align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\">Francis of Assisi said, <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><i>Preach the Gospel at all times and when necessary use words. <\/i><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\">It is said that his lifestyle and clothing spoke so clearly of Christ that words speaking of Christ were superfluous. Clearly, Francis of Assisi also spoke of Christ, but let us not avoid the challenge: Does my life and the life of my Christian community speak clearly of Christ?<\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"en-US\" align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\">Jonah\u2019s recorded prophetic words are few, but his action in finally going to his enemy\u2019s capital city to proclaim God\u2019s judgment spoke volumes. He acted courageously. His words matched his boldness, giving credibility to his proclamation. <\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"en-US\" align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\">The Apostle Paul reminds us that God in Christ took <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><i>the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness&#8230;he humbled himself and became obedient to death \u2013 even death on a cross.<\/i><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"> (Philippians 2:5-8) <\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"en-US\" align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\">In God\u2019s kingdom the messenger is also the message.<\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"en-US\" align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><i>God of the Servant King, by your Holy Spirit empower me to have the same attitude of humble obedience as Christ Jesus. May my life embody your message so that \u201cat the name of Jesus <\/i><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><i>every knee should bow,<\/i><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><i>\u00a0<\/i><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><i>in heaven and on earth and under the earth,<\/i><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><i>and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,<\/i><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><i>to the glory of God the Father\u201d.
